Interview Highlights:
1. How Do You Use the PCP Test at Your Company?
When we hire somebody for pre-employment, we schedule a test for them at an official PCP Testing location, and we are able to use the scores they get to define what type of jobs future employees would be a good fit for. It's a huge asset when hiring someone.
2. How Does the Test Evaluate Potential Employees?
The test scores employees on a level 1-5, 1 being the least amount of necessary force they're able to lift or move. Level 5 means that he or she is able to lift 100+ lbs frequently. My company does all types of construction including both residential and commercial, so being able to see what levels our employees are at allows us to know what department would be a good fit for that employee. If someone scores a 3, they would never be asked to work in a level 5 environment. The test definitely has helped to keep employees safe.
3. What's One of the Main Benefits of Using The PCP Test?
Being able to make sure that someone is able to achieve what we're asking them to do has been so helpful. This helps us take care of our employees. It's crucial to make sure we're taking care of our employees and we're not asking us to do something they cannot do.
4. Is There Anything Else Like PCP out There?
I like this program so much that it's hard to find anything that does even close to what PCP does for us.
5. Have You Seen A Significant Decrease in Worker's Compensation Claims Since Implementing PCP?
Absolutely. And that's because the program actually teaches employees techniques to keep them safe. For instance, part of the testing is a lifting test that actually shows someone who isn't lifting correctly how to correctly do it. And it's one of the things that people overlook but being able to be reminded that you're not lifting right, or you're straining here, is so helpful.
